Prompt to Disconnect When Closing Internet Explorer   Article ID: 0018

Symptoms

This option is used when you would like to have Internet Explorer prompt to disconnect when you close your browser window.

Resolution

To utilize this open follow the steps below:

Applies to Windows 95/98/2000/XP

  1. Click on Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on ‘Tools’ at the top.
  3. Click on Internet Options.
  4. When the Internet Properties box opens up you will want to select the ‘Connections’ tab.
  5. On this tab you will see Chilitech.
  6. Click on the ‘Settings’ button next to the white box.
  7. At the bottom of the new box that opens, you will want to select the ‘Advanced’ button.
  8. A new box will open and you will want to be sure there is a check mark in the box labeled ‘disconnect if a connection is no longer needed.’
  9. Click ‘Ok’ all the way out until all boxes are closed.
  10. Now you sure be prompted to disconnect when you close your browser window.

Windows ME users follow these steps:

  1. Click on Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on ‘Tools’ at the top.
  3. Click on Internet Options.
  4. When the Internet Properties box opens up you will want to select the ‘Connections’ tab.
  5. On this tab you will see Chilitech.
  6. Click on the ‘Settings’ button next to the white box.
  7. At the bottom of the new box, you will want to click on ‘Properties.’
  8. Next click on the ‘Dialing’ tab
  9. Finally put a check mark in the box labeled ‘disconnect if a connection is no longer needed.’
  10. Click ‘Ok’ all the way out until all boxes are closed.
  11. Now you sure be prompted to disconnect when you close your browser window.
