Symptoms
User receives Error 630: The port was disconnected due to hardware
failure.
Cause
Often a modem related issue.
Resolution
- If the computer a Laptop or Notebook computer, try Plugging
the PCMCIA Modem Card into a different PCMCIA slot.
- Make certain the correct modem selected in the Dial up Network
settings. Select the correct modem
- Try rebooting the computer. This can often correct this issue.
- Check to see if the modem respond to diagnostics? If not,
uninstall and reinstall the modem drivers.
- Try an initialization string in the Extra settings for your
modem. Lower the Port Speed to 57600 and lower the fifo buffers.
- Update the modem drivers from your modem manufacturer. Try
init strings, specific to your modem.
- Check into telephone line noise.
- Refer to your modem manufacturer.
